Communications and Marketing Committee – December 2018 Report

The group met 2-3 times this quarter.

Recent Activities

First Activity
CAM continued to post to LITA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, responding to submissions to the Publicity Request Form and scheduling social media posts two to three times for each submission.
Meets LITA’s strategic goals for Education and Professional Development, Member Engagement

Second Activity
CAM also changed our methodology for assigning social media duties to committee members. Previously, members opted in for posting on certain weeks via a shared Google Calendar. Now, the committee chair assigns committee members weeks of posting responsibility, with members being assigned an average of one week every two months. This ensures greater participation and simplifies the scheduling process.
Meets LITA’s strategic goals for Organizational Stability and Sustainability

Third Activity
CAM continued collecting social media analytics for LITA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. The committee chair partnered with Jenny Levine, LITA Executive Director, to generate a Google Analytics report that shows the number of referrals each month from LITA’s social media accounts to LITA’s websites. This information shows how LITA’s social media presence drives traffic to other LITA web presences. These statistics are now being tabulated and reported in monthly meeting minutes and the LITA CAM Google Drive account.
Meets LITA’s strategic goals for Organizational Stability and Sustainability

Fourth Activity
CAM continues to partner with the Membership Development Committee on monthly #LITAchats on Twitter, with the most recent chat occurring on the final Friday of November.
Meets LITA’s strategic goals for Member Engagement

What will your group be working on for the next three months?
CAM will continue posting to LITA’s social media channels, collecting analytics, and partnering with Membership Development on upcoming #LITAchats.

Is there anything LITA could have provided during this time that would have helped your group with its work?
We could use a few more members, but recruitment is already underway (thank you!)

Please provide suggestions for future education topics, initiatives, publications, resources, or other activities that could be developed based on your group’s work.
Social media analytics would be an interesting topic for webinars, publications, etc.
