The Appointments Committee is a standing committee that assists the LITA President-Elect in finding the best possible LITA members to appoint LITA’s standing committees and task forces, as well as representatives to other ALA committees, with respect to:
- Relevant Professional Experience
- Diversity of background and life experience
- Current LITA and ALA involvement
Members of the Appointments Committee should have been LITA members for at least one year and have served on a committee or task force within ALA or one of the divisions, or as a representative to an ALA committee. In addition, Appointment Committee members should have excellent networking skills and ideally be involved in the activities of another division or the ALA parent organization.
The LITA Appointments Committee will be chaired by the LITA President Elect and will consist of 3-6 members with two-year overlapping terms. Members may not serve successive terms. The Committee will receive assistance from a staff liaison and the LITA President will serve as the Committee’s Board liaison.
